Green light for office project at £300m Kirkstall Forge site

PROPERTY investors Commercial Estates Group have been given the green light for an office development at the £300m regeneration scheme at Kirkstall Forge.

CEG was granted planning for the 167,207 sq ft site, which promises to create 2,400 jobs.

The brownfield site will be a mixed-use site once completed, starting with offices, as well as a gym, restaurant and shops, with a completion date set for 2020.

A railway station is set to open later this year connecting the site with Leeds city centre, along with access roads and infrastructure paving the way for 1,050 new homes, 300,000 sq ft of offices and 100,000 sq ft of retail, leisure and community space.

Developers CEG have already have undertaken demolition and remediation of the Forge.

Jon Kenny, Director of CEG, explained: “Ultimately, the Kirkstall Forge development will offer prime office space and new homes with fantastic facilities in a stunning riverside, woodland location with unsurpassed transport connections into Leeds, Bradford and the Yorkshire Dales.”

Kirkstall Forge is one of the oldest industrial sites in the country,  comprised 600,000 sq ft of predominantly old manufacturing buildings
