Online giant Amazon creates 270 Yorkshire jobs

THE Logistics division of online marketplace Amazon is helping to create nearly another 300 jobs in Yorkshire as part of efforts to expand their distribution network.

20 jobs will be with Amazon at its Sheffield base, with 250 delivery drivers servicing the depot.

According to the BBC, Amazon, which already employs 300 workers at a depot in Doncaster with plans to create another 300 over the next three years, is also setting up Sheffield distribution site on the Victory Park retail park, near Meadowhall.

Jamie Stephenson, UK director for Amazon Logistics, said: “Amazon Logistics adds capacity and flexibility to Amazon’s delivery network, enabling us to meet the delivery needs of customers.

“Amazon Logistics is also helping independent local delivery companies to grow their businesses by providing state of the art technology to deliver Amazon orders.”
