Entrepreneurs celebrate as sales double at beer venture

ONLINE beer retailer Beer Hawk is expecting to double turnover to £2.5m this year.

The Harrogate-based beer and ale retailer was co-founded by Mark Roberts, a former marketing director at Laithwaites Wines, and Chris France formerly of Procter & Gamble, who quit to launch the venture three years ago.

The firm is expecting to ship 500,000 bottles to customers this Christmas as the craft beer and ale industry continues to grow.

Beer Hawk launched a national media partnership for craft beer; Telegraph Beer provides more home delivery options for UK beer lovers.

Beer Hawk has also extending its range of beers with more than 300 ales, including breweries in Italy, Japan and Spain.

Mark Roberts, co-founder of Beer Hawk, said: “In just three years we have grown from a small start-up to one boasting 14 full-time staff.

“With orders already coming in ahead of the festive rush, Beer Hawk expects to ship 500,000 bottles of beer this Christmas – doubling last year’s figures – with an additional eight people being recruited to cope with demand.”

BeerHawk.co.uk is based at Saltergate Business Park in North Yorkshire.
