Green light for 80 Harrogate area homes at former airfield

PROPERTY group Evans has been given the green light by Harrogate Borough Council to develop 80 homes at a disused airfield in North Yorkshire.

The 418,176 sq site was identified as a sustainable development site by the council, capable of accommodating more housing, having formerly been part of Tockwith Airfield.

Evans Property Group is anticipating that around 120 new jobs could be created at the construction peak of the development.

The development has undergone preliminary consultations, which highlighted issues with “uncontrolled parking” and the proximity to the Southfield Lane primary school, which Evans has taken into account with new plans for offsite parking.

Alan Syers, portfolio director at Evans Property Group, said; “We are delighted to have been given the green light to transform this strategic site into a high quality housing development to help meet local needs and support the viability and vitality of Tockwith village.

“The plans evolved through engagement with local stakeholders, officers at the Council and local residents resulting in a scheme which adopts good design principles and responds positively to local characteristics. We are looking forward to implementing our proposed scheme in due course.”
