Glamour and more glamour at the 2016 Golden Globes

It’s the start of the award season and that time of the year when the stars come together on the red carpet for the glamourous 73rd Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, California.
As much as the limelight shines on the best in film and American television, the accolade everybody was waiting for was the ‘Best Dressed’.
Judging dresses from the comfort of our couches is everyone’s favourite pastime, picking out celebrities with their best styles and looks.
The red carpet was a sea of glitz and glamour, flashes and smiles, with strategically planned outfits, that we can copy for our very own awards ceremonies here in sunny Yorkshire!
Here are my top five fashion trends in 50 seconds from the Golden Globe 2016:
- Plunging Necklines
- Capes
- Sequins
- Blue
- Pink
According to Harper’s Bazaar, Jennifer Lopez was in her Giambattista Valli Couture. The “Booty” hitmaker proved that she still has “it” as she caught everyone’s attention with her high-slit and different kind of style. My Best Dressed Female!
Olivia Wilde sported a Michael Kors collection piece. The model and actress looked gorgeous and elegant in the very classy and racy plunging neckline dress. My Sexiest Female, hands down!
Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a The Rock, was the trendiest gent on the red carpet in his violet smoking jacket and matching velvet slippers. Hot! My Best Dressed Male!
But Mr Sexy must go to the gorgeous Leo DiCaprio wearing a traditional tux and that all famous sexy smile. My Sexiest Male.
The red carpet ‘runway’ was a splash of vibrant bold colour and sparkle, seeing the all- time favourite ‘black’ taking a back seat to the rich, deep hues in the jewel tone family.
The trends for the evening were instantly evident on the red carpet, and were heavily influenced by spring 2016 looks. Plenty of off-shoulder gowns, soft romantic/ruffles styles and my personal guilty passion loads of sparkle!
Dominating fashion statements were:
- Jewel tones
- Embellishments
- Abundance of white
- Diamonds
- Sleek hair, hair braids and twists
- Smokey eyes, red and nude lip
- Plenty of bare skin, especially legs
- Attention-seeking plunging necklines and goddess reminiscent gowns
The style winners of the night made choices that were both bold and classic! Look out for the copy trends on the high street, we’ve got more to come!
