£14m factory investment for chemicals giant

BRADFORD is set for a major chemicals plant expansion.
Kemira Chemicals UK is investing a total of £13.8m in a new production line at their site in East Bowling.
The company, which employs 80 people in the UK is expanding its 34-acre site.
Part of the Kemira Group, it serves water-intensive industries. Kemira provides chemicals to improve water, energy and raw material efficiency.
The group turns over €2.1bn a year, with more than 4,000 employees worldwide.
Aiding the business on its expansion, engineering company Britcon has been appointed to deliver a £2.3m construction project for the plant expansion.
Engie Fabricom designed the new 50,590 sq ft expansion. It will deliver steelwork and civils for a 13 metre-high process building and a tank farm.
Matt Leitch of Impruv Project Services, which is leading the project for Kemira, said: “We are delighted to progress the project with the very specialist skills of Britcon which is able to deliver this new facility to our unique specification.
“When completed the new facility will greatly enhance Kemira’s manufacturing capability and production output, increase employment at the site and significantly reduce road transport traffic to and from the plant.”
Britcon started on site last month and expects to complete works for handover by summer 2016.
