Super League stadium put up for sale

THE stadium that is home to Super League club Wakefield Trinity Wildcats has been put up for sale for £600,000.
Belle Vue Stadium has been home to the rugby league club since rugby’s great split in 1895 and was the venue for the Challenge Cup Final in 1923, before the competition’s showpiece game was relocated to Wembley.
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, which avoided relegation to the Championship in the final minutes of the 2015 season, has recently signed a five-year lease.
The stadium, which is on a 5.8 acre site one mile south of Wakefield city centre, is being offered as a freehold investment subject to the lease to the rugby club.
The Leeds office of chartered surveyor and property consultancy Sanderson Weatherall has been instructed to sell the stadium on behalf of the Fixed Charge Receiver of the property.

Neil Bestwick, a partner in Sanderson Weatherall’s asset advisory and recovery team said: “This is an excellent opportunity to acquire this well-known stadium with centuries of heritage. There has been much speculation as to where the club would play its rugby in 2016 and beyond and we are pleased to have been able to agree revised lease terms on behalf of our client resulting in the club’s commitment to this venue going forward.”
