Leeds United fans project their anger at club’s owner

BEFORE the match against Middlesbrough last night, fans of Leeds United displayed their feelings towards chairman Massimo Cellino with a 30ft projection.

A consortium of fans projected messages on the East Stand of Elland Road urging Mr Cellino to leave the club.

Costing fans £2,600, the projection was carried out by EMF Technology, which projected a naked Gail Porter on the Houses of Parliament in 1999.

Slogans included: “We were here before you and still will be after you’ve gone.”

This follows the raising of a banner outside Leeds’ Elland Road grounds, headed “Time to Go Massimo”

Mr Cellino threatened legal action, with a letter from law firm Ward Hadaway to City Ads saying: “This poster has obviously been placed outside the entrance to Mr Cellino’s place of work so as to cause the maximum distress to our client.

“This exacerbates the quantum of harassment that is intended to be caused and is malicious.”

Mr Cellino had appeared to be leaving in October 2015 when he said he would sell the club to its fans before changing his mind a few days later.

Yesterday executive director Paul Bell was forced to deny that Leeds were considering battling with Sky over the broadcasting and timing of live matches.

The match against Middlesbrough ended 0-0, making nine consecutive matches of draws.
