Yorkshire airport goes green with new flights to Dublin

IRISH airline Aer Lingus is increasing the number of flights from Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

Flights to Dublin will be increased once a week, with Saturday flights added to the schedule for the first time from April 2.

This follows a successful seven months of flying 11,500 passengers on Aer Lingus flights from the regional airport.

Aer Lingus has been flying five flights a week Monday to Friday.

The flights to Dublin mean passengers can connect to flights to New York, Chicago and Boston in America and the Canadian city of Toronto.

Chris Harcombe, head of aviation development at Doncaster Sheffield Airport said: “We are delighted that Aer Lingus have added an additional flight to Dublin from Doncaster.

“This further strengthens our objective to connect the city region with the world, enabling businesses across the region to strengthen trade links, open up new markets and bring them closer to their customers.

“Better links will also encourage companies to invest here in our region creating jobs and growing our regional economy.

“The transatlantic flights offer something for everyone from Chicago’s amazing Jazz Festival’s to tennis fans opportunity to see Serena Williams take on Caroline Wozniacki in Madison Square Garden on March 8 and from seeing Bruce Springsteen in Boston to seeing Rupert Everett giving the performance of his career in Judas Kiss in Toronto.”

Martin Saxton, commercial director, Stobart Air, said: “We are delighted to be able to increase the number of flights from Doncaster to Dublin in our summer programme.

“This route is proving to be very popular with Yorkshire passengers and we look forward to continuing to develop our relationship with Doncaster Sheffield Airport.”
