Family-owned company cleans up with HQ move

A SECOND generation family-owned business is moving its Sheffield headquarters and storage facilities.
With the help of DLA Piper, Pricecheck Toiletries is moving into a “major” storage and distribution facility in Sheffield, complete with head office.
Pricecheck Toiletries made a pre-tax profit of £1.03m on turnover of £40.4m in the year to 30 April.
The business made a loss of £332,341 the year before.
The business quadrupled its export sales in the five years to 2014, when they were worth £12m.
Pricecheck supplies discounted clearance stock of branded health and beauty, food, drinks and consumer products.
It was founded in Sheffield in 1978 by the parents of Mark Lythe and Debbie Harrison, the current joint managing directors of the company.
In 2015 Pricecheck Toiletries won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise – one of the UK’s highest accolades for business success.
“We are delighted DLA Piper helped us secure new premises. Given the tight timescales and the logistical complexities in our move their assistance proved invaluable,” said Debbie Harrison, joint managing director of Pricecheck Toiletries.
“The move will allow us to double our turnover from £40m to an anticipated £80m, and increase staff numbers to 150 over a five year period. Winning the Queen’s Award in 2015 has also helped to enhance our reputation worldwide and will help us to achieve more ambitious growth plans.”
“This deal marks the next step for Mark and Debbie who have impressively grown Pricecheck over a six year period,” explained DLA Piper legal director Mark Keeling.
Mr Keeling’s team from DLA Piper included real estate partner Petra Billing and Kirstie Allerton of the Leeds banking division.
