On the Move: Baytree Interiors; Vital Technology Group; Barnsdales; Sportsafe

HOME interiors retailer Baytree Interiors is continuing to expand from its North Yorkshire heartland with the launch of a new shop in Huddersfield.

The Harrogate-headquartered home accessories, lighting and furniture retailer has secured the lease on a 1,600sq ft unit on Princess Alexandra Walk in the Piazza Shopping Centre.

The outlet will be the eleventh in the company’s portfolio and opens its doors tomorrow, creating six full and part-time jobs.

Previously occupied by clothes retailer, ‘Emma’, family-owned Baytree Interiors has undertaken a full refit of the unit including creating complete room sets to show customers how its range of products can work together. The company was helped by Leeds law firm Clarion and letting agents Bowcliffe Chartered Surveyors.

Managing director of Baytree Interiors, Nik Hill, said: “Last year was a really good year for Baytree Interiors. We opened three new retail outlets across the North and we’re looking forward to expanding further this year, taking our range of unusual and competitively-price products to an even wider audience.

“Huddersfield was the next natural step for us in our expansion plans, being near to the M62 it attracts visitors from across the North and North West.”

BUSINESS technology service provider Vital Technology Group has relocated from Knaresborough to larger premises in Wetherby following the takeover of a rival business at the end of last year.

The company has moved to the Equinox development on the Sandbeck Estate, after outgrowing its headquarters in Knaresborough where it had been since 2008.

The move follows Vital’s December announcement of its acquisition of Octari, a Leeds-based IT service provider with plans to integrate Octari fully into the Vital business over the next 12 months.

Lee Evans, managing director of Vital, said: “It’s been a busy few months for Vital with our acquisition of Octari quickly followed by the relocation to our new offices in Wetherby.

“Thanks to continued year-on-year growth we were quickly outgrowing our previous home in Knaresborough and the time was right to make a substantial investment into premises that meet our needs, and give us the room we need for our continued growth.

“The Wetherby office were ideal for us; in need of some refurbishment which meant we could really make it a home of our own and tailor it to suit our needs, and the location just by the A1(M) makes it that bit easier for us to service our clients throughout the Yorkshire region and beyond.”

Vital Technology Group was established in 2006 and was originally based at Hornbeam Park in Harrogate.

COMMERCIAL property consultancy Barnsdales has taken almost 3,000 sq ft of office space in a Doncaster relocation.

It is also jointly acting on the remaining 2,100 sq ft of space in the same building with the Sheffield office of Knight Frank

Barnsdales, which was formerly headquartered at Thorne Road in Doncaster is now acting as joint agent on the remaining high spec Sidings Court offices, joining established nearby businesses Allots, Trax FM, Nuffield Health, Navartis, Hawsons and FCC Environmental.

The company’s move into 2,800 sq ft office space places Barndales close to Lakeside Village, just one mile from Doncaster town centre and just off the White Rose Way arterial road out to junction three of the M18.

Ben White, senior surveyor at Knight Frank, said: “We agreed a ten-year letting of Sidings Court to Barnsdales with a five-year break clause and they are now acting as joint tenants with Knight Frank on the remaining space.

“Sidings Court is a high specification office building and offers a prime location for businesses who want the benefits of superb motorway access and close proximity to Doncaster town centre.

“It is also adjacent to the successful Lakeside Village with occupiers include Gap, Next, M&S, Costa Coffee & Greggs so offers a number of amenities close by for staff.

Jason Barnsdale from Barnsdales, said: “The move to Sidings Court is very much tied up with the growth of Barnsdales as a business and is a fantastic location for us with everything on our doorstep.

“The offices are fitted to a very high standard and we were so impressed – we were delighted to take the appointment as joint agent alongside Knight Frank to market the remaining space.”

A NATIONAL supplier of sports and fitness equipment is expanding into Yorkshire after acquiring an office building at Escrick Business Park in York.

Sportsafe supplies and maintains a full range of sports equipment for schools, leisure centres, councils and businesses. The Essex-based firm is now launching a dedicated division called Outdoor Spaces, which will be based at Escrick, and specialise in all types of outdoor sport and play equipment including artificial grass, outdoor fitness equipment, climbing walls, playground markings, flood lighting, long jump pits, and shelters.

In addition, the two storey, 1400 sq ft building will house a team of 12 who will service Sportsafe’s extensive customer base throughout the North.

Jonathan Neill, managing director at Sportsafe, says: “This new office will complement our existing bases in Essex, the Midlands, Wales and Scotland, and is a natural progression for us as we continue growing and winning business in the North of England.

“Escrick Business Park enjoys a superb rural setting but it is still within easy reach of the national motorway network and offers superfast broadband as well as plenty of parking, in a modern environment, so it ticks all the boxes. There’s no doubt it will give us a superb base to launch Outdoor Spaces from as we look to further grow our presence in the outdoor equipment market.”
