Connections to Europe launched from Yorkshire airports

SPANISH low cost airline Vueling has started its twice weekly flights to Barcelona from Leeds Bradford Airport, and at the same time Flybe has announced its inaugural flight from Doncaster Sheffield to Dusseldorf.
The Vueling services will operate on Monday and Friday filling the gaps on the Thursday and Sunday flights to the Spanish city with Jet2.
Tony Hallwood, Leeds Bradford Airport’s aviation development director commented: “We are delighted to see Vueling commence services from Leeds Bradford serving Yorkshire passengers but also creating inbound tourism opportunities to the cities of Leeds, York and Harrogate.”
Vueling’s director of Network Planning, Scheduling and Slots, Gabriel Schmilovich, said:
“Today Vueling is pleased to be commencing services linking the major Spanish of Barcelona with the Leeds city region reinforcing our growing presence in the British market.”
Meanwhile at Doncaster Sheffield airport, the inaugural flight to Dusseldorf has launched, as part of an eight new route deal.
Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “We are delighted to see the first Flybe flight taking passengers to Paris this morning. Our new motorway link road, Great Yorkshire Way, opened just in time for the new influx of passengers, making journeys to the airport much quicker and bringing six million people to within an hour’s drive.”
