AFTER 11 years of fundraising for various charities through an annual football match between local property agents and professionals, the organisers have set up the Yorkshire Property Charitable Trust.
Trustees are prominent figures from Leeds’ property community including elected chairman Craig Burrow of Bruntwood.
He said: “The Yorkshire Property Charity Football event is a mainstay in the local property social calendar and has already raised over £250,000 since inception. The organising committee felt strongly that going forward, monies raised at the event should be distributed locally with a focus on charities and causes that are close to the heart of the property community that are instrumental in raising them. For these reasons we have created the Trust.”
Trustee, Carl Wright of Jack Lunn (Properties) added: “We are delighted to have already supported some amazing local charities with pledges to Candlelighters, Little Hiccups and Right Choice Academy. We have funds available and encourage members of our profession to come forward with applications and bring to the attention of the Trustees the details of causes and charities.”
The Yorkshire Property Charity Football event will take place on September 15 at the John Charles Centre for Sport followed by dinner and entertainment at The Queens Hotel. Sponsors already confirmed include Walker Morris, Towngate, Santander, Bruntwood and Blacks Solicitors.
Trustee and manager of the Property Agents team, Nick Salkeld of Fox Lloyd Jones said; “The football is an ongoing rivalry and we encourage new players and sponsors to come forward as we continue to evolve and improve the event each year. It is a great event and raises an incredible amount of money for charity. Tables are now available and once again we expect a full house, so please do get in touch.”
Leeds-based MD Construction was formed in 1997. It carries out large scale contracts with major businesses including The Co-Operative, John Smiths, Northern Foods, Leeds City Council and Heineken.
Keeley Dunbar, director, said: “By updating the website we are giving our customers more information about our multi-disciplinary construction services and some of the large scale construction projects we have been involved in.
“Meeting the changes to internet searches with a fully responsive website, will also help people find us online and have a positive experience with our brand from any device.”

YORKSHIRE’S Dacres Commercial has sold a Victorian property in Middlesbrough that was previously home to Middlesbrough Art Gallery and will now be transformed into a development of seven student apartments.
The three storey building on Linthorpe Road sits directly opposite Albert Park.
It has been bought by SAS Teesside which specialises in providing students with accommodation throughout the area.
The building offers 514 5,532 sq ft of accommodation and sold for £420,000.
Matthew Brear from Dacres Commercial said: “This is a prominent building in a sought after area that lent itself to a wide range of development opportunities. As a result, it attracted plenty of interest. SAS Teesside plans will breathe new life into the building, by creating a high quality student accommodation scheme, which is just a few minutes walk from Teesside University.”
Dacres Commercial operates from an office network that covers Leeds city centre, Ilkley, Skipton, Keighley, Harrogate and Otley.
