This Yorkshire city has been ranked in the top 10 worst places to buy a house
LEEDS is one of the worst places to have bought a house over the past decade and a half according to estate agents at eMoov.
According to eMoov researchers, the average house price across the UK has increased 172% between 2000 and 2015.
Leeds however is one of the top five worst places to have bought a house, with prices increasing 38% over the period.
In 2000, the average house price in the Leeds area was £76,313. In 2015 that sum reached £105,187.
This is a far cry from the 9% drop in house price seen in Bolton, where the average house price in 2000 in the centre of Bolton was £77,202, just under £8,000 less than the UK average.
Despite peaking at £105,608 in Q1 of 2008, the current average house price in the area has dropped -9% from the start of 2000, now at just £70,621 – considerably lower than the UK average of £221,254.
eMoov analysed data from the Office of National Statistics charting the median house price across England and Wales by quarter since Q1 of 2000.
