Law firms make partner promotions

FOUR of Addleshaw Goddard’s Leeds lawyers are being promoted to partner level.
Intellectual Property lawyer Georgina Powling, technology and outsourcing specialist Simon Lofthouse, Real Estate and social housing finance expert Nick Barlow have all been promoted.
Employment lawyer Sally Hulston, will also be appointed, and is moving from Addleshaw’ Goddard’s Manchester office to Leeds,
The partner promotions will come into effect from 1 May.
Tim Wheldon, head of the Leeds Office of AG commented: “It is always very satisfying to see local talent promoted in the firm wide appointment of new partners. These promotions are well deserved, support our ambitions in Leeds and will provide additional leadership to develop new opportunities.”
The move is part of 15 partner promotions across the firm. 18 lawyers were also promoted in 2015.

EIGHT senior promotions are being made across Walker Morris.
Two partners, Gawain Moore and Karl Anders have been appointed in the resturcturing and insolvency group, and real estate and banking litigation group respectively.
Mr Moore joined the firm three years ago from a leading International law firm and advises on all aspects of insolvency and restructuring.
He has advised Endless on the acquisition of engineering and technical services provider, Imtech UK and Imtech Suir, from their Dutch parent.
Mr Anders heads the firm’s housing litigation and management practice. His team advises lending institutions, registered providers of social housing, private sector corporate landlords and nationally recognised letting agencies.
Claire Askew in finance, Shakeel Dad in employment Paul Hargreaves and Daniel Lyon in construction have all been appointed as directors, as have Robert Starr and Jo Stephenson.

EATON SMITH has appointed Mike Webb, head of dispute resolution and employment law, as senior partner.
The promotion follows the retirement of Andrew Sugden who recently stood down from the role but will remain with the firm as a consultant.
Mr Webb has been a partner at Eaton Smith since 1985. He deals with and supervises all aspects of commercial litigation, matrimonial property and employment related disputes.
He specialises in complex contractual disputes and, in relation to individual clients, he is also an experienced litigator in the field of inheritance, cohabitation and estate disputes.
Mr Webb said: “I am absolutely delighted to be appointed to the role of senior partner. I firmly believe this is an exciting time for Eaton Smith and our brand and profile sees continuous growth.
“The firm has great momentum and I believe we have a strong management board who will guide the firm to the next stage of development. Andrew has been a fantastic senior partner, colleague and friend and we all wish him well in his retirement.”
