Fire and restructuring cost holiday homes business

FOLLOWING the disposal of its modular homes business the year before, Hull-based manufacturer of holiday homes Willerby is returning to growing profits and turnover.

For the year to October 31 2015, Willerby Holiday Homes increased turnover to £124.5m, up from £101.6m for the same period the year before.

Pre-tax profits jumped back to pre-disposal days, as the company returned £2.53m, compared to pretax profit for the year to 27 September 2014 of £1.2m.

A sum of £600,000 was related to the management restructure in the business, as well as a fire that tore through facilities in November 2014. No employees were hurt but damage cost the business.

In 2015 Willerby also invested £1.7m in research and development, escalating the amount it spends in that area.

Founded in 2003, the firm has 1,436 employees. It is part of Scaid Investments, a subsidiary of Cavendish Square Partner LP.
