Building products firm extends reach with showroom launch

MKM Building Supplies is extending its reach into the luxury interior design market with the launch of a kitchen and bathroom showroom in Ripon.

The Hull company, an independent builders’ merchant, has invested more than £30,000 in the facility at its branch on Charter Road.

As part of the move, MKM has also recruited kitchen design specialist Sally Moore to work with trade and retail clients.

Simon Baldwin, branch director at MKM Ripon, said: “The new showroom features some fantastic kitchens and bathrooms that would be an asset to any home. Although it has only just launched, it is already providing popular with trade and retail customers alike.

“Recruiting Sally really completes our offering. She is very talented and has a fantastic eye for kitchen design and is on hand to advise and work with our clients to help them create their dream kitchen.”

The showroom displays a range of kitchen designs by Yorkshire manufacturer Symphony, while the bathrooms are from MKM’s own Instinct range.

MKM joint-founder and executive chairman, David Kilburn, said the launch was part of a wider strategy of product expansion and specialisation at the company which also includes roofing, landscaping, plumbing and heating.

He said: “After making a significant investment in our kitchen and bathroom products, we have already seen an increase in sales. The quality of the ranges we offer, combined with the expert knowledge of the designers we employ in each showroom, are the keys to the strategy’s success.

“More widely we are replicating this type of specialist knowledge across many of our branches and product ranges, in order to give our customers the maximum value possible.”
