Startup Spotlight: Bridal business sparkles with help from entrepreneurs organisation

INDEPENDENT Sheffield business owner Jane Burbeary hadn’t ever been interested in the wedding industry until she got married herself, and realised finding a dress in size 16 or above was no easy task.

Bridal shops have been on the decline for years as online competitors take over.

Ms Burbeary went to Business Sheffield for advice on the launch of her business, and has started Celebrating Curves Bridal, opening a successful bridal store.

She may be swimming upstream in a difficult market, but her plus size niche has

Jane said: “The first thing I needed to do was secure some financing. I “Googled” start-up loans and Business Sheffield came up.

“I booked myself onto several courses and have found them invaluable in my journey to get the business off the ground. The networking is also fantastic and we support each other wherever possible – my accountant is a Sheffield start-up business.”

Ms Burbeary added: “My advice to anyone wanting to start up their own business would be; find something you are passionate about and you will never work another day in your life. Plus make sure you get advice from the experts at Business Sheffield.”

Now she is looking at expanding into fashion for bridesmaids, and other occasion wear.
