Top Gear deal for Yorkshire drone company

WETHERBY-BASED drone company Aerial Republic has won a filming deal on the cult BBC motoring show Top Gear.

The aerial production house was commissioned by Extreme Facilities, the company behind the new series, featuring Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc.

The Aerial Republic team travelled to Morocco to film with a £75,000 drone.

Lois Etheridge, operations director at Aerial Republic said: “The fact that our aerial videography experience was called upon by the team behind one of the most popular television shows in the world is a testament to the specialised knowledge and experience that we bring to each and every project.

“Filming for Top Gear was an experience that was game changing both on a personal level and for the company, as it has allowed us to add another major name to our portfolio as we continue to work with bigger industry players.”

The new series of the BBC Two Show has suffered declining ratings for its opening episodes. It went from 4.3m viewers for its first episode, to 2.8m in its second episode.
