New owners relocate 150 year-old law firm

A RECENTLY acquired, 150 year-old law firm will relocate to provide a “foundation for growth.”

Law firm Schofield Sweeney confirmed the relocation, having bought the business in January 2016.

The merger with Armitage Sykes created a £10m-turnover business with 150 employees in Leeds Bradford and Huddersfield.

The former Armitage Sykes Huddersfield office is being moved from New North Road to an address in central Huddersfield.

From 1 July, the firm will be fully integrated and branded under the Schofield Sweeney banner.

Rob Kelly, a partner at Armitage Sykes said: “Armitage Sykes was established 150 years ago and is firmly rooted in Huddersfield. As the firm takes on the Schofield Sweeney brand we will preserve our strong Huddersfield heritage whilst expanding the commercial law services available to the Huddersfield Market.”

Schofield Sweeney chairman Chris Schofield said: “We are a fast growing law firm with a strong reputation in West Yorkshire. The move will enable us to expand our offering as well as be in a prime location with modern working and meeting facilities.”
