5 things to do in Yorkshire this weekend

1. Stainsby Festival

Date: Friday 15th – Sunday 17th July
Location: Stainsby, overlooking Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire

Stainsby Festival is a well-established, intimate three-day music and arts festival on a green field site overlooking Hardwick Hall.
The festival features folk and world music, theatre, film, poetry, children’s activities, craft stalls, philosophy walks, competitions and a real ale bar serving Derbyshire micro-breweries.

2. Great Yorkshire Fringe

Date: Friday 15th July – Monday 1st August
Location: Parliament Street, York

After great success last year, the Great Yorkshire Fringe returns with an extra week of music, stand up comedy and family entertainment from all over the world. From bubble shows to day clubbing events, this festival has it all covered for the whole family.

3. Let It Be

Date: Monday 11th – Saturday 16th July
Location: The Grand Theatre & Opera House, Leeds

The international hit show that celebrates the music of The Beatles will be showing this weekend in Leeds. Seen by over 2m people worldwide, Let It Be has established itself as one of the West End’s most popular shows and has recently been performed in Germany, Japan, Moscow and France.

Packed with over 40 Beatles songs, this is definitely the place to be this weekend if you’re a fan of the English rock band.

4. WW1 Centenary Activity Day

Date: Saturday 16th July
Location: Bolling Hall Museum, Bradford
This free family activity day offers the opportunity to discover Bradford’s contribution to the First World War.

Visible from Bolling Hall, nearby Bowling Park was used as a training camp for the Bradford Pals during WWI before they were sent to the battlefield. Experience a tented encampment with period weapons, accessories and equipment. Handle equipment used by soldiers during WWI and experience army life with marching drills.

5. Abbeydale Minature Railway

Date: 1pm – 5pm Sunday 17th July
Location: Near to 283 Abbeydale Road, South Sheffield

With two tracks to ride on, footbridges, model trains, refreshment and a large picnic area, the miniature railway is a great place to entertain the children this Sunday if the weather holds up!
