5 things to do in Yorkshire this weekend

1. Sheffield by the Seaside
Dates: Thursday 28th July – Tuesday 30th August
Location: Peace Gardens, Sheffield

Sheffield’s own seaside was so popular last year that this Summer it has been extended an extra three days.

2. Riverside Festival
Dates: Wednesday 27th – Sunday 31st July
Location: Tower Gardens, York

This five-day festival is celebrating the creation of the new cultural centre inside an old industrial barge thanks to the Arts Barge Project and the York community.

The festival will host a whole range of activities including arts and crafts, kids theatre, puppetry, sing-a-longs, and a cafe and real ale bar for the adults.

2. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Dates: Friday 29th July
Location: Millennium Square, Leeds

Britain’s Got Talent stars, Boogie Storm are set to once again don their iconic Stormtrooper outfits for two special screenings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The dance group will be performing both matinee and evening screenings of the blockbuster, which is offering the audience a unique outdoor cinema experience in a specially constructed fully seated auditorium in the Millennium Square.

4. 1940s War-time weekend
Dates: Saturday 30th – Sunday 31st July
Location: Pateley Bridge, Harrogate

Dance the night away to live renditions of 1940s songs, shop at the vintage stalls and relive war-time this weekend with real Spitfire planes, Khaki Bloomers, military vehicles and more.

5. Scarborough Sea Festival
Dates: Friday 29th – Sunday 31st July
Location: Foreshore Road, Scarborough

Experience live music all day in the Great Yorkshire Brewery ale tent, learn about the North East’s fishing history, watch live cooking and net-mending demonstrations and shop at over 35 stalls selling craft and local produce.
