People: Legal director appointment; Senior hire at financial services firm; and more

BOND DICKINSON has appointed Karen Eckstein to join its insurance professional risks team as a legal director.

Ms Eckstein will be based primarily in the firm’s Leeds office and will service the team’s national and local client base.

She joins Bond Dickinson from Clyde & Co where she was a partner. Ms Eckstein specialises in tax and accountancy professional indemnity litigation, contentious tax, and contentious trust and probate cases.  

James Robins, partner and head of Bond Dickinson’s insurance disputes team, said: “Karen has a unique combination of skills and we are delighted to have her on board. Her appointment further strengthens our national professional risks offering.  Her arrival has already generated a great deal of interest among our clients who have worked with her before or know of her reputation.”

Haworths Financial Services Paula GahanBENTHAM and Settle-based Haworths Financial Services has appointed IFA Paula Gahan.

Ms Gahan joins an established IFA team at Accrington-headquartered Haworths and will work across clients from all three offices, helping them to maximise their financial assets and plan effectively for the future.

Daniel Matters Frenchgate Shopping CentreDANIEL Matters has joined the team at Frenchgate Shopping Centre in Doncaster as commercialisation manager.
 
He brings with him more than a decade of experience in both commercial and sales positions, where he has played key roles in business development.
 
His key duties at Frenchgate will include capitalising on the centre’s retail opportunities, along with offering commercial space for established and new business start-ups to assist them in raising awareness of their products and services.

He said: “I want to help position the centre as a destination for business and attractions to host industry events, as well as further develop the leisure, arts and cultural activities we can offer.

“I am keen to continue the development of Frenchgate as more than a shopping destination.”
