VEHICLE tracking group Minorplanet Systems has announced that its Australian subsidiary, Minorplanet Asia Pacific Pty, has achieved certification as an Intelligent Access Program (IAP) Service Provider.

IAP is a scheme, administered by Transport Certification Australia (TCA), that allows transport operators of heavy vehicles improved access to Australia’s road network in return for GPS monitoring of compliance with specific access conditions.

Under the IAP, participating heavy vehicles are monitored using telematics services with an in-vehicle unit (IVU).

Minorplanet is now one of only two companies able to provide IAP services to transport operators.

Chief executive Terry Donovan said: “We have been a big supporter of this scheme since its inception. It has significant potential to improve road productivity and safety which will showcase the increasing importance of telematics to the industry and provides important growth for our business in the medium term.”
