Designer picked for Hepworth Wakefield gallery garden

AN award winning designer has been chosen to create what will be one of the largest free public gardens in England at the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield.

Tom Stuart-Smith, who has previously designed eight gold medal-winning gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show, has been selected to design the 65,000 sq ft riverside site.

A £2.2m fundraising campaign has been launched to pay for the garden.

“Public commissions like these are scarce in the UK,” Mr Stuart-Smith told the BBC.
