Haulage firm to invest £1m in HQ expansion

HAULAGE company Shipley Transport Services is making a £1m investment to extend its six acre Bradford headquarters.

The project, to be delivered by Britcon, includes a 9,956 sq ft warehouse addition and a bespoke DVSA standard, 4,380 sq ft workshop facility.

Established in 1980, Shipley Transport Services specialise in full loads, part loads and pallets and can provide Moffett Mounty and tail lift deliveries. This has allowed Shipley to diversify into special events, exhibitions and shop refits with special deliveries to The Olympic Stadium, Wembley, The Emirates Stadium and Canary Wharf as well as music festivals in Brussels, Paris, Berlin and Prague and goods to refit shops for Marks and Spencer.

The company is also a member of the UPN pallet system which means that it can transport pallets to any part of the UK overnight.  It has a mixed fleet of over 50 vehicles and 100 trailers and employs more than 80 staff.

Managing director David Clarke said: “As we progress steady expansion we are committed to a continued investment in a modern fleet and modern warehouse facilities. We also needed a high standard, below ground inspection pits so that we could facilitate our own vehicle safety inspections and servicing in house for maximum efficiency.

“Britcon has demonstrated immense experience in the transport industry, particularly through its specialist work with DVSA, and as such were able to replicate the high standard for our own needs.”

Building and civil engineering specialist Britcon will complete structural works for the warehouse and workshop as well as concrete to the yards with drainage and other groundworks.

Britcon’s sister company, Britcon Engineering Services is also providing bespoke steelwork for the project.
