Top 10 must-reads this week including 250 year-old firm in administration, LUFC takeover looms and more…

THIS week came the sad news that historic restoration business William Anelay would be closing its doors.

It is always difficult when a business becomes insolvent, but more so when it has 126 staff and the history behind it that William Anelay does, with an eighth generation owner and projects under its belt including Lambeth Palace, Lancaster Castle and York Mansion House.

It was happier news for another business that entered administration this week. Halco Rock Tools entered into a pre-pack organised by KPMG, saving the jobs of 45 staff.

Big news in the creative sector came as Leeds agency Stickeyes, the last of the “big three” which included Epiphany (now under the stewardship of Jaywing) and Branded3 announced it had been taken over by a multi-billion dollar US firm – good luck to the team!
