Interiors business goes outside Harrogate for first time

AN INTERIOR design firm has invested £300,000 in its third showroom, which brings its handmade furniture to Ilkley for the first time.
After opening its first two sites in Harrogate, Richard Grafton Interiors has ventured further afield in a move that will bring it closer to some of its customers.
The 3,000 sq ft store at Crescent Court will be the first to stock an exclusive range of Richard Grafton’s own hand made British furniture when it is unveiled in the coming weeks.
“Our first step outside Harrogate is an important one and, with its similar demographic, Ilkley provides the ideal location,” said managing director Mr Grafton.
“We have always had lots of clients from the town so having a base there will be more convenient for these regular customers but will also give our brand exposure to a whole new potential market.”
The Ilkey store, which is designed as a luxury apartment, will open this week. The expansion has created three full-time jobs, adding to the existing 13-strong team.
The company opened its original 5,000 sq ft showroom and head office four years ago in Harrogate’s Montpellier Quarter, and it also has its warehouse facility in the town. The ambitious firm has grown its annual sales to £2.1m.
Mr Grafton added: “Our investment in the Ilkley retail scene has been well received by the local business community and the interest we have seen even before we opened the doors is hugely encouraging.”
