500,000 sq ft to be speculatively built at iPort

LOGISTICS property developer Verdion is speculatively building a further 565,000 sq ft at the iPort in Doncaster.

Having already built hundreds of thousands of square foot at its £500m logistics site, Verdion said that “significant demand” for grade A warehouse space has prompted it to build further on the site.

Backed by funding partner Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan, the company has launched plans for new space, starting with the development of a phase one unit which will deliver 190,000 sq ft. It is expected to be completed in late 2017.

Michael Hughes, chief executive of Verdion, said: “It’s been a great year for iPort. We have let over 1.65 million sq ft to some of the world’s largest companies, with a further deal announcement involving a household name coming very soon.

“This new tranche of speculative development demonstrates our strong confidence in the UK market and the very real location and commercial strengths offered at iPort.”

iPort is a Strategic Rail Freight Interchange which will deliver over 6 million sq ft warehousing, linked with a container facility providing rail freight services to all major UK ports and the Channel Tunnel.

The scheme also offers design and build warehouse/logistics units from 50,000 to 1.1 million sq ft on a 337 acre site in Rossington, Doncaster.

Gent Visick, CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield are letting agents for iPort.
