Yorkshire gets a taste of Star Wars as Rebel Cruiser glides into Ultra Con
A CREATIVE design and engineering business has brought a taste of the Star Wars universe to Yorkshire.
Last weekend the handcrafted Rebel Cruiser was the highlight at Ultra Con 2016 at Doncaster Racecourse.
The XKX Projects team from Bradford created the only full Rebel Cruiser replica – in the film, the set only ever had different models of the interior and exterior.
The ‘Rebel Cruiser’ was custom-made as a fan built dramatic centrepiece, 13 ft tall and more than 42 ft in length.
The structure is made from Plywood, MDF and is supported on Steel tube legs and can be split into separate components for transporting.
Dino Parrinello, founder and owner of XKX Projects said: “We design, manufacture and build permanent and temporary installations in our Bradford based 13,500 sq ft workshop. Being asked to create a tribute spaceship for Ultra Con was a challenge that we were keen to undertake.
“Working from movie images we have collaborated with the Ultra Con team and together we have custom built a detailed replica spacecraft experience to thrill film fans attending the show.
“Every project we undertake is bespoke and we will do whatever it takes to get the job done and ensure the client and their customers have a fantastic experience.”
