Go-ahead for £60m student accommodation

DEVELOPERS have been given the green light for a £60m student development in Sheffield.
BSRE has been given permission to start work on the Hollis Croft site which will deliver a 972 bed student block, covering 18 storeys.
The 430,556 sq ft site was one of three on Hollis Croft and it was the first to be given a recommendation for approval. The other two have been plagued with objections.
HLM submitted plans for the extensive scheme in collaboration with DLP Planning, Matrix and Counter Context.
Delia Harmston, associate at HLM said: “We are delighted that planning permission has been granted for this exciting project which is set to become one of Sheffield’s landmark developments.
“As an international practice with a strong Sheffield base, alongside BSRE who have been investing in Sheffield since 2013, we are privileged to be contributing to the on-going regeneration of our city and to the vibrancy of this new city quarter. The purpose-designed scheme will set the standard for student accommodation and will provide much-needed housing for students along with employment opportunities and improved public spaces.”
