Full house for second phase of former mill’s £2.5m revamp

TENANTS have been secured ahead of the completion of the second phase of a £2.5m transformation of a former mill.

Towndoor, a commercial property development and rental company, has attracted occupiers for all remaining units at The Dyeworks in Lockwood, Huddersfield.

The former textile mill had been derelict for some time.

In 2015, Towndoor decided to buy and redevelop the 1.2 acre site into grade A industrial and trade units.

Managing director Dan Bamforth said: “Undertaking The Dyeworks was a big risk to Towndoor as it was such a large project whereby the former mill needed to be demolished. We are absolutely thrilled that The Dyeworks has attracted blue chip companies and that the risk has paid off as the site is now fully let before completion.”

Phase two will be complete next month; splitting the build into two projects, the first phase was complete in December 2015 and fully let shortly after.

National companies attracted to the site include Screwfix, Taste Card, Peg-Perego and Sytner.
