Healthcare boss to retire after 18 years with EMIS

CHRIS SPENCER, the chief executive of Leeds healthcare business EMIS Group, will retire next year after 18 years with the company.

He has run the AIM-listed business since 2013, after originally joining in 1999. He has previously served as its chief administrative officer, group counsel and company secretary.

Mr Spencer has “indicated his intention to retire from his position and from the Board by the end of 2017”.

Mike O’Leary, chairman of EMIS Group, said: “Chris has given outstanding service to EMIS for over seventeen years, including as chief executive since 2013, and we respect his decision to put a timeframe around his well-earned retirement, while ensuring a smooth handover and allowing the board ample time to find a successor of the highest calibre.”

At the same time, and in what EMIS Group described as “an unrelated development”, David Sides has been appointed as an additional independent non-executive director.

Mr Sides, who is based in Atlanta, USA, and is currently chief executive of Streamline Health Solutions, will join the board on January 1.
