5 things to do in Yorkshire this weekend
UNSURE what to do now the Christmas holidays are over? We’ve compiled a list of activities, exhibitions and shows to see across Yorkshire this weekend. 
1. Made in Hull opening event
Date: Sunday 1st – Saturday 7th January
Location: Various venues across Hull city centre
This weekend, see this year’s city of culture like never before as buildings are transformed by projected pictures curated by local documentary filmmaker, Sean McAllister. This Saturday will be your last opportunity to witness Hull’s opening celebration marking the last 70 years of life in the city through local and international art.
2. England athletics combined event
Date: Saturday 7th – Sunday 8th January
Location: EIS, Sheffield
From shot putt to pole vault, watch as both junior competitors and senior athletes compete in the England athletics combined event. Over the course of the weekend, men, women and juniors will be competing in various sports including high jump, long jump, 60m hurdles, 800m, 1000m and more. 
3. I’m sorry I haven’t a clue stage tour
Date: Sunday 8th January
Location: Grand Hall, Scarborough Spa
BBC Radio’s multi award-winning antidote to panel games returns to the stage in 2017 with its sell out touring show. Join Barry Cryer, Tony Hawks, Tim Brooke-Taylor, Jeremy Hardy and host Jack Dee for an evening of inspired nonsense as Colin Sell provides the piano accompaniment. Described as “the National Theatre of fun” by Gillian Reynolds at the Daily Telegraph, it is sure to be an unmissable evening for those looking to start the year with a bit of fun!
4. Jungle Book
Date: Saturday 7th January
Location: Joseph Rowntree Theatre, Haxby Road, York
Based on stories from The Jungle Book with a big helping of Oddsocks humour, Mowgli’s animal friends, Baloo the bear, Bagheera the panther and Kaa the python all help to outwit his enemies and help him learn the law of the jungle. With music, puppetry, laughter and excitement, the empowering and heart-warming tale is ideal for the whole family. 
5. The Jewellery Show
Date: Saturday 7th January
Location: The Craft Centre & Design Gallery, City Art Gallery, Leeds
This Saturday will be the last chance to acquire something unique from Leeds’ very own jewellery show. Every Christmas various jewellers who are at the cutting edge of contemporary jewellery design are selected to showcase their collections in the annual Christmas exhibition. Explore a range of silver, gold, acrylic, precious & semi-precious stones and more featuring jewellery by Mandana Oskoui, Rebecca Sarah Black, Wendy Sarah Pacey, Kathryn Williamson, Rachel Jones, Alison Phillips, Rauni Higson and Julia Smith.
