Litigation law firm expands Leeds offices

Litigation firm Stewarts Law has expanded its Leeds offices, taking an extra 5,770 sq ft of space.

The firm, which also has offices in London, now occupies 17,000 sq ft of the grade A offices at 9 Bond Court.

The building, which reaches nearly 70,000 sq ft has recently undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment by Legal & General Investment Management Real Assets (LGIM Real Assets).

Knight Frank, Redmayne-Bentley, Lambert Smith Hampton and RSA are currently tenants.

Daniel Herman, head of Stewarts Law Leeds office, commented: “We are pleased to have been able to take a third floor at 9 Bond Court. The additional space will enable us to expand our existing teams in commercial disputes, divorce, clinical negligence and personal injury. It also offers us the potential to launch new practice areas in Leeds, in line with our strategy to remain the UK’s largest litigation-only law firm.”

Will Edwards, fund manager at LGIM Real Assets, said: “Following LGIM Real Assets’ repositioning of this asset we have completed a series of new lettings, of which Stewarts Law is the latest. To have secured another high-quality tenant is testament to our asset managers’ ability to rework our assets to achieve significant lettings activity.”

Elizabeth Ridler, partner with Knight Frank in Leeds, who brokered the deal, commented: “This extensive refurbishment, which featured substantial interior and exterior work, has transformed 9 Bond Court into one of the finest central office buildings in the city. It was already impressive, with its height dominating the central Leeds cityscape, but it has now become a statement building both inside and out.”

Patrick Carter, associate director at Savills Leeds, added: “There is a lack of good quality Grade A stock in Leeds and this extensive refurbishment work gives 9 Bond Court a new exciting new lease of life and has helped us target new occupiers.”

Knight Frank and Savills are the joint marketing agents for 9 Bond Court, which is owned by a Jersey-based investment fund. JLL advised Stewarts Law in respect of the transaction.
