Air compressor manufacturer relocates for growth

Boge Compressors, a manufacturer of industrial air compressors, has relocated in a bid to boost turnover by 50% during the next four years.

The company, previously based in Brighouse, has taken three industrial units totalling 12,750 sq ft at Park Valley Business Park in Huddersfield.

Mark Whitmore, general manager, said: “We needed to move to realise our vision of growing our business revenues by 50% over the next four years. Our old premises were no longer fit for purpose as our business model has changed radically since the business moved into them 30 years before.

“The buildings were tired, with the layout being dysfunctional. The cost of upgrade was prohibitive, with no real scope to develop them from a planning permission point of view to get the layout we need now and for the future. Also, our future testing power requirement could not be met at the current premises.
“We decided on Park Valley Business Park as the shell construction of the three units was a blank canvas for us to construct the layout we need for our business now, with scope to expand our operations further.”

Boge’s move means that phase three of the major regeneration of the historic Park Valley site is now fully let.

The site, owned by Holmfirth Dyers, has been transformed into a business park, featuring 18 industrial units with office and storage space and superfast fibre optic broadband.

Park Valley Business Park had previously been derelict for many years, with buildings falling into disrepair. Now the revamped site off Meltham Road in Lockwood is creating jobs and regenerating the area.

Altogether more than 125 new jobs have been created on site.

Holmfirth Dyers managing director Martin Duckett said that work on phase four of the development, which comprises 14,000 sq ft, has been completed with all four units already under offer. The units will be available for immediate occupation on completion.

Mike Haigh, partner with Leeds property consultancy Dove Haigh Phillips, said: “This is a superb development for Huddersfield, which is already creating jobs and regenerating the area. The installation of superfast fibre optic broadband is brilliant for tenants, improving connectivity and communications.”
