Central Leeds development opportunity hits the market

A development site with planning permission for 87 student studios and a ground floor retail unit, which the Co-operative Food Group has agreed to occupy, has hit the market.

The site, on Burley Street on the outskirts of Leeds city centre, is located close to Leeds University, Leeds Beckett University and Leeds City College.

A lease agreement has already been put in place with the Co-Operative Food Group to occupy the ground floor retail unit.

Josh Franklin from the development team at Savills Leeds said: “Burley Street is situated in a prime location in a popular inner city student area. The area is already characterised by student accommodation with many of the large providers having a presence in the immediate area.

“With a student population in excess of 250,000, there is increasing need for further student accommodation in Leeds and we are certain this development opportunity will be incredibly appealing to a number of developers.”

The site extends to 0.34 acres and is bound to the south by Burley Street and Park Lane to the north.

In addition to 87 studio flats and a retail unit, the scheme will also include communal facilities, associated landscaping and car parking.
