Fine dining entrepreneur invests £1m in boutique hotel

Pub and hotel The Country Park has invested £1m in growth.

The boutique venue on Hessle Foreshore in East Yorkshire was acquired by businessman and restaurateur Mark Ciuffetelli.

He acquired the business after it had been in administration for several months following the tidal surge in December 2013 in which the site was badly damaged.

Ciuffetelli also owns The Millhouse, a fine dining site at Skidby in East Yorkshire.

He has already invested £300,000 in The Country Park, creating two self-contained conference suites on the first floor.

The remaining investment will be completed in the next 12 to 18 months, he said.

Proposals for six guest suites including a wedding and an executive room, has begun.

Ciuffetelli said: “It was inevitable that the tidal surge and the period that the venue spent in administration affected its reputation, so, since we bought The Country Park last year, we’ve been busy implementing the changes that we felt were necessary to give old customers the confidence to return and that would also attract new customers who might not have visited before.

“I think The Country Park has the best views and setting of any events venue round here; it’s truly unique. Our end goal has always been to give it the facilities to match and we’re now well on the way towards doing that.

“The fact that we have already come so far is testament to the commitment and determination of the team that we have here, which still includes many familiar faces from before I bought the venue but has been bolstered by several new appointments who will help us to oversee the improvements and help us to restore The Country Park’s reputation as one of East Yorkshire’s top events venues.

“We’re very excited about the changes that are taking place and customers will notice even more of a difference in the place over the coming months.”
