Public inquiry as holiday park plans rejected

A village has forced major holiday park operator Park Leisure and its development partner Turnwalk to back off of plans for a caravan site near its location.

A public inquiry has been launched as a result of the rejection of plans for 150 caravan plots near the village of Allerthorpe by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

The authorities had said that the intended location was “inappropriate”.

Park Leisure had initially applied for a 225-site development in 2013, but this had been rejected.

A revised plan of 150 caravan plots was then proposed, and subsequently rejected, according to the Pocklington Post.

Park Leisure and Turnwalk’s appeal will close on 16 March.
