Accreditation first for North Yorkshire distributor

NORTH YORKSHIRE-based cold storage and transport operator Reed Boardall is the first UK firm to achieve fully accredited certification to the new British Retail Consortium (BRC) global standard for storage and distribution.
The standard has a strong emphasis on hazard and risk analysis to identify and manage potential product safety risks, coupled with documented quality management systems.
Carole Payne, food director at SAI Global/EFSIS, which audited the group said: “Reed Boardall achieved certification for both the storage and distribution modules at the first attempt without any major non-compliances.
“This is impressive and a great start for us too as auditors for this new standard.”
Reed Boardall’s national distribution centre at Boroughbridge is now the largest frozen foods cold store and distribution operation in the UK providing round-the-clock service to all the biggest names in British food retailing.
It said that the new BRC Global Standard certificate gave its customers the benefit of knowing that its systems had been recognised by an authoritative third party.
Keith Boardall, the group’s managing director added: “There is a huge amount of work involved in meeting the criteria for this certificate.
“The problem-free achievement is a credit to quality officer Helen Teasdale and all our staff, who are committed to maintaining our high quality standards and appreciate and understand the benefits to customers and themselves.”
