Appointments: New blood at Gordons; Lupton Fawcett strengthens IP department; and more

YORKSHIRE law firm Gordons has announced the appointment of six new trainee solicitors after recently reporting a record turnover of £22m for the last financial year.

The appointments represent the firm’s annual trainee intake at its Leeds and Bradford offices and the new recruits will join Gordons’ existing teams in business recovery and restructuring, personal injury, commercial property and commercial litigation.

The trainees and their respective departments at Gordons are Elliot Jackson, business recovery and restructuring, Graham Peycke, personal injury, Laura Foley, commercial property, Sallyanne Veitch, commercial property, Sophie McKelvey, commercial litigation and Jonathan Smith, risk and compliance.

Gordons’ training partner and head of employment Philip Paget said: “As we continue to grow it is essential that we ensure our trainee intake provides us with talented and ambitious individuals. This year’s five new trainees demonstrated that they have a great deal of potential during the interview process and we are looking forward to developing them over the next two years.”

Lupton FawcettLUPTON Fawcett, the Leeds and Sheffield-based commercial law firm, has strengthened its intellectual property department by recruiting Neil Abraham from Dickinson Dees and Sarah Marsden, who qualified into the department in September.

Mr Abraham’s experience covers the full range of intellectual property law including copyright, trademarks and patents.

Ben Duckham Barclays CorporateBARCLAYS Corporate has hired Ben Duckham to its South Yorkshire team as business development manager.

He will be responsible for larger corporate clients with a turnover in excess of £5m the South Yorkshire region.

Mr Duckham, who has worked for Barclays for four years, has extensive knowledge in the healthcare sector and prior to that worked in the chemicals and pharmaceutical team based in Leeds.
