Fashion show hopes to inspire new business start-up

BUDDING entrepreneurs with ambitions for starting their own business can get plenty of inspiration and sound advice at a free fashion event.

The Business Link Yorkshire hosted show at the Shine complex in Harehills on February 27 from 6pm-7.30pm is being held to help those working or studying fashion, art and design to find out how to make self-employment a career option.

Experts from Business Link Yorkshire will be available to offer advice and information on the help available to start up companies in the creative industries.

A range of small business owners, including an interior designer, jewellery maker, aromatherapist, caterer and dress designer will be on hand to explain how they got started and to offer tips and advice to those with similar ambitions.

The evening gets off to a vibrant and colourful start with an African themed fashion show by young, Leeds-based designer Siobhan Thomas, owner of Phenomode.

She said: “We want every element of this evening to inspire and excite young people at the start of their creative career to aim high and believe they can do it.

“We couldn’t have found a more appropriate venue than Shine for this event. This building is home to so many new and developing businesses and it can’t fail to impress. We are looking forward to putting on a fabulous business event for young entrepreneurs.”

Following the fashion shows, Ms Thomas will offer five minute personal style consultations and visitors can also meet a range of entrepreneurs, sample their products and find out how they started and developed their businesses.

Free refreshments will be on offer during the evening but places for the fashion show must be pre-booked.
