US breakthrough for Fusion IP firm

A COMPANY in the portfolio of university research development company Fusion IP has signed a deal to sell a new product in the United States.
MedaPhor has signed a non-exclusive agreement with Florida-based Rotherfield Technologies which will offer access to the US market for the firm’s ultrasound training simulator ScanTrainer.
Sheffield-based Fusion IP has a 35% stake in Medaphor, a spinout company from Cardiff University.
Medaphor chief executive Stuart Gall said: “We are delighted to have signed our first US distribution agreement with Rotherfield Technologies LLC.
“ScanTrainer’s unique ability to teach the core ultrasound examination skills, without the need for an ultrasound machine or a patient and with reduced involvement by a trainer, speeds up the learning process and enables the trainer to supervise a larger number of trainees. We believe the system has the potential to become the world’s leading ultrasound training system.”
Fusion IP last month announced it had more than halved its losses for the year and increased revenue seven-fold.
