Milestone owners to open second venue

A PUB which featured on a TV series fronted by Gordon Ramsay to find the best restaurant in Britain is to open a second venue in Sheffield.
The Milestone will open at the premises previously occupied by the Wig & Pen on Campo Lane and Paradise Square in the city.
Matt Bigland and Marc Sheldon, who run The Milestone in Kelham Island, impressed celebrity chef Ramsay on his Ramsay’s Best Restaurants series on Channel Four.
The pair said: “2010 has been an amazing year for us. The local support has been great and the TV exposure has meant we are incredibly busy.
“After nearly four years at Kelham Island and after working really hard to develop a reputation for great food we felt the time was right to open another Milestone – working title ‘Milestone 2’.
“It will be different but very recognisable as the Milestone and of course it will offer the same quality food and service.”
On behalf of the Paradise Square scheme, which is supported by the Shrewsbury Hospital Trust, assistant agent and receiver for the premises, Jeremy Robinson, said, “Paradise Square is a major feature of Sheffield’s historic Cathedral Quarter and the trustees of the square are delighted as they see the success of the venue as a key element in the ongoing regeneration.”
Milestone 2 will open in the new year but the premises will be open to the public in the venue’s current guise before closing for a short time for refurbishment.
The Milestone launches its first cookery book “First, Catch Your Pig”, this month, containing recipes of the most popular dishes served at the venue.
