Buyout team celebrate successful first year

PLAND Stainless is celebrating the completion of a highly successful 12 months following a management buyout (MBO) last year.

The Leeds-based firm, which manufactures quality stainless steel bowls, sinks, basins for commercial and medical workplaces, saw sales rise by 3.2% to £5.4m for the year ended February 2009.

Pland underwent an MBO back in March last year and since then has continued to focus on quality, value and service.

The firm, which can trace its history back to 1919, also believes that manufacturing most of its products in Leeds means that it gives it complete control over its supply chain.

Steve Duree, commdercial director at Pland Stainless, said: “Our first year since the management buyout has been one of our most successful so far.

“Everyone is looking forward to the future and along with our new products we are well positioned to continue recent successes.”

Since the buyout Pland Stainless has introduced a new range of eye washes and safety showers under the Haws brand, which is sold into manufacturing, industrial and laboratory sectors.

The business, which employs around 60 staff, trades in brands such as Santric and Associated Metal (Stainless) along with the parent name of Pland Stainless to meet the demands of the catering, public and original equipment manufacturer sectors.

Mr Duree added: “Everyone is focused on driving the business forward and since the management buyout we have recently had one of the most successful years in the company’s history and have clear plans to continue this growth.”
