First images revealed of new Broadmarsh bus station and car park

Nottingham City Council has revealed the draft designs of the new Broadmarsh car park and bus station.

The Council’s Planning Committee met yesterday (21 June), and documents show that there is still a desire to include a residential element to the new building, which will include five storeys of car parking.

Demolition of the current car park is set to begin in July, when around 870 spaces will be lost to the city centre.

A planning application for the new building is set to lodged with Nottingham City Council before Christmas.

According to Notts TV, councillors at the meeting were broadly supportive of the plans, but one expressed  concern over the residential element.

Councillor Malcolm Wood said: “We were all very supportive of the developments but I would ask for the consideration of the dangers of having any residential area.

“We need to be conscious of pollution levels as they could be very high – we will need a risk analysis so that there will not be any dangers to residents’ health.”
