Third firm joins £150m Broadmarsh race

A third construction firm has entered the race to land the £150m contract to rebuild intu’s Broadmarsh shopping centre in Nottingham

Construction News is reporting that Sir Robert McAlpine has joined Laing O’Rourke and Bowmer & Kirkland to fight it out for the intu contract.

Sir Robert McAlpine worked on 1m sq ft Cabot Circus shopping and leisure development in Bristol.

Intu development director Martin Breeden said a contractor would likely be picked by the end of 2017.

The redevelopment works are expected to begin in December of this year, and be completed by early 2020.

Last week Nottingham City Council gave the go-ahead for the demolition of the Broadmarsh Bus Station, saying its replacement will feature a mixture of shops and cafes.
