Altium goes for growth with new team

INVESTMENT bank Altium has taken on three senior staff at its office in Manchester.

The firm said the staff, who have come from top jobs at accountancy firms Grant Thornton and KPMG, and the Bank of Scotland’s private equity arm, would support future growth.

Andy Clarke has joined as assistant director after five years at Grant Thornton’s corporate team while associate Chris Hopwood has moved over from Bank of Scotland Integrated Finance where he was a senior analyst. Philip Frame has been appointed as an associate from KPMG where he spent four years in the audit team.

Meanwhile Nakul Mohandas has joined Altium’s graduate programme and Paul Lines, who joined Altium in 1998, has been promoted to director.

Chief executive Phil Adams said: “In spite of challenging market conditions, our Manchester office has been extremely busy over recent months and has built a strong pipeline of deals that will take us to the end of the year and into 2010. Therefore, we are investing heavily in attracting the right talent to the business now in order to support our future growth.”

In recent months Altium has worked on a string of deals including a £28m fundraising on behalf of Connaught, two bolt-on acquisitions for a FTSE 250 company and the takeover of AIM-listed Artisan by Aspen Finance.
