CONSTRUCTION giant Balfour Beatty has been named as preferred contractor for the £45m Two Snow Hill office project in central Birmingham.

The London-based company has beaten off competition from three other industry heavyweights – BAM, Sir Robert McAlpine and John Sisk – to win the lucrative contract.

A spokeswoman for Balfour Beatty confirmed that the company had been named as preferred bidder but declined to make any further comment until the final decision was announced next month.
