Thank Cod…seafood firm completes HQ refurb

Sea Products International

A frozen seafood distribution company has completed the refurbishment of its new Birmingham headquarters.

Harris Lamb last year purchased the 5,489 sq ft site in Ravenhurst Street on behalf of Sea Products International.

The firm, which distributes frozen seafood to the wholesale, hotel, restaurant and manufacturing sectors across the UK and Ireland, needed to find alternative premises following Birmingham City Council’s decision to grant planning permission for the £500m Smithfield development.

After the firm identified a suitable property and completed the purchase deal, SPI then appointed it to oversee the refurbishment of the property.

Gareth Booker, of Harris Lamb’s Building Consultancy team, said: “SPI had very specific requirements in order to transform the two-storey premises to suit its needs and appointed Harris Lamb to assist with the relocation, design and site management of the works.

“A complete refurbishment, the project included a full strip out of the existing offices including existing toilets, stairs and office suites to allow the reconfiguration of the building to meet SPI’s requirements.”

The fit-out has seen the creation of new open plan offices, a client working kitchen, meeting rooms and demonstration area, breakout spaces, new toilets and a programme of external works.

“We completed the work in just 17 weeks – to a very tight programme considering the extent and high spec of the project, while also coming in on budget. We are extremely pleased with the completed project,” added Mr Booker.
